About Elmwood
Elmwood Baptist Academy...
- Was founded in 1973 and has been providing Excellence in Education for almost 4 decades.
- Every teacher is thoroughly trained and certified in the A Beka and A.C.E. systems of education. These advanced educational programs have been in existence for nearly 40 years and focus on each student’s educational need according to his/her personal academic ability, and NOT as “one in a group”.
- Each staff member has passed a complete background investigation before coming to EBA.
- Each staff member is a member of Elmwood Baptist Church and is a born-again Christian.
- We use A Beka “Early Development Curriculum” for students 2 and 3 years of age. We emphasize that this is education NOT daycare.
- Every student in Kindergarten (4 years old), Advanced Kindergarten (5 years old), and 1st-3rd grade are taught using the A Beka curriculum with Phonics to insure superior reading skills. (Most EBA students, who apply themselves, are good readers by the time they finish Kindergarten.)
- Students from 4th-12th grade use “School of Tomorrow A.C.E. Curriculum” which ensures that each student will progress through and master every subject at their own individual academic ability and pace. We do not believe in the “herd mentality” of education. Every student is an individual and learns differently, and at a different pace. Our classrooms have been structured to accomplish this purpose. For more information on A.C.E. please click here.
- New A.C.E. students are diagnostically tested in the key subject areas and are placed at the exact point of their individual academic ability in each subject. Age and supposed grade level are not the criteria for academic placement. Understanding and mastery of the subject matter is what true education is all about.
